We are proud to announce that Mission's Natalie B. was recognized as one of San Diego County's AVID 8th Grade Standouts at a ceremony held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Scripps Ranch High School. Natalie exemplifies hard work, empathy, leadership, and kindness. She works hard to consistently maintain a 4.00 G.P.A. and never says "no" when others ask for help. Her career goals are to get a Bachelor’s degree and become an art director or a film & video editor. Attendees were also lucky enough to hear a few words from AVID's founder, Mary Catherine Swanson - it was indeed a special night! Congratulations, Natalie! Mission is proud of you!! 👏🙌👍✊👊🫡 #ThisIsAVID cc: @SraLuevanos_MMS

The Escondido Union School District held its Spring #eSports Championships last Wednesday (April 29). All EUSD middle schools were in attendance, and students waged friendly battle in four games: Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Rocket League, and FC '24. The competition was fierce, and Mission came away with two 2nd Place finishes on the night. Mission's Esteban H. was the runner-up in Rocket League, and Kaleb G. was the runner-up in Super Smash Bros. Well done, Wildcats!!! 👍✊️👏🕹️🎮👾🏆

Our awesome 7th Grade Science teacher, Mr. Zanesco, has been raising trout in his classroom for the last two months as part of the "Trout in the Classroom" program, a hands-on science program where students raise trout eggs and eventually release the young trout at Lake Wohlford. Over those two months, those trout eggs hatched, were out and on the move, and the staff and faculty had the awesome privilege and pleasure of "naming" the trout. At the end of the two months, the trout were finally ready to be released, and over Spring Break Mr. Zanesco released them into Lake Wohlford. To Swim Shady, Fin Diesel, and all the rest of the Wildcat Trout: remember to be safe, be respectful, and be responsible, and play nice with all the other fish at Lake Wohlford. 🐟 😎 🐠 🫡 🐟

Shout-Out to Mrs. Camp’s 8th grade DLP students, who are making our world a better place. Their DLP presentations were impressive, to say the least. After learning about Manifest Destiny in History, they utilized the Design Thinking Process to present prototypes on how best to address some of our community challenges, and they have the bilingual skills to communicate their passion and solutions to a much broader audience which will have a much deeper impact. 📢 Big thanks to all of the professionals who gave their time to help our DLP students prepare for their presentations including Kim Silva (Utility Environmental Program Manager for the @CityOfEscondido) and @Dane.M.White_Escondido.Mayor 🙏
