Using Teaching Books

Teaching books is a great tool for learning about books and their authors. Very often you can listen to the author reading from their own book. You can also click on a sound clip of how to pronounce the author's name correctly.

Monday, January 18, 2021 is the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

Why not listen to an excerpt from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s book The Concise King narrated by Dr. King himself. If you click on Language on the upper right hand corner of the linked page and select Spanish, you can see a machine translated transcript of his spoken words in Spanish if you prefer.

Or listen to an author interview with the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

FYI, Mission Library has class sets of hardback copies of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Why We Can't Wait.

Or why not celebrate this holiday by learning about authors who have followed in his footsteps, such as the late Congressman John Lewis, who wrote the March series of graphic novels.

To explore Teaching Books for yourself, log into your Clever on any device. Once you have enabled pop-ups, click on the Teaching Books icon in Clever.

Here's how to enable pop-ups on an iPad. Teaching Books is NOT an app, so don't look for it in Self Service.
